Understand and use your benefits
Using your Aetna Better Health of Maryland benefits and services is easy. You’ll have access to things like preventive care, emergency care, pregnancy-related services, nursing home care and more. All you need to do is bring your Aetna Better Health ID card, a photo ID and your Maryland HealthChoice Medical Assistance Card to your appointment. Here are some pages that will help you understand and keep your benefits:
Find providers and pharmacies
Get quality care and services close to home. We have a strong network of providers and pharmacies to choose from. And there are many ways to search for one.
Get help in an emergency
Call 911 right away if you have a serious illness or injury. You can also use these resources when you need medical attention:

Your ride is covered
Ambulance rides are always covered. Call 911 in an emergency.

Access the Member Portal
Keeping up with your health doesn’t have to be hard.
At Aetna Better Health, we know that "healthier happens together".
We are at your side to make it simple.
The member portal and health app help you understand your benefits.
It has information for both your physical and mental health.
You can learn all about your plan benefits.
From vision and dental care.
To medications and maternity care.
You can find the member portal website for your plan in your member handbook.
You can also call member services.
The number is on the back of your member ID card.
You can get the Better Health mobile app for iPhone® or Android™.
You can use it to manage your health on the go.
You will need to create an account to login to access your information.
Once logged in to the member portal or member app, you can:
See your member ID card or ask for a new one.
Change your doctor, also called your primary care provider (PCP).
Update your contact information, see your health history, track your goals and more.
We believe that your PCP is one of the most important parts of your health care.
Your PCP is a medical provider.
They manage your health care and help get all the covered services you need.
If you do not choose a PCP, we’ll assign one to you.
And remember, you can change your PCP anytime.
Just visit your member portal, member app, or call member services.
The phone number for Member Services can be found on the back of your member ID card.
Another way you can take charge of your health care is by using our nurse line.
Nurses are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
They are available to answer your health care questions.
The nurse line does not take the place of your PCP.
But, if it’s late at night or you can’t reach your PCP, the nurses can help you decide what to do.
To access the nurse help line just call Member Services.
You deserve to be healthy in body and mind.
That includes help with your mental health or substance use.
You may go to any provider in our network.
You can get certain mental and behavioral health care services.
Some may require prior approval.
Call Member Services to learn more about your behavior health coverage.
You also deserve to be as healthy as you can be.
That’s why we offer special benefits that take care of the whole you.
Our extra benefits go beyond your basic health care.
Call Member Services or visit your plan website for more information about your extra benefits.

Access the Member Portal
When you log in or create an account for our Member Portal, you unlock the ability to do so much more with your health plan. You can manage your Maryland HealthChoice plan benefits and your health goals from anywhere. You can also send a secure message through the Member Portal if you have a question.

Visit the MyActiveHealth℠ website
You deserve to be as healthy as you can be. And we can help. MyActiveHealth is a health assessment tool that makes it easy to take charge of your health. You can access this free feature by signing in to the Member Portal. Next, select "Tasks” and choose “Manage My Health.”
From there, you’ll be able to find:
Health surveys and records
You can keep track of your medical history and get healthy living tips based on your survey answers.
Videos and podcasts
Learn more about health, your health plan and other wellness topics.
Healthy lifestyle programs
They can help you meet all your goals, like quitting smoking, eating healthy, managing stress and more.
Just call 1-855-231-3716 to request a printed copy of the health survey. You can also get printed information on health conditions and wellness topics.
