Dental benefits

A healthy smile is linked to a healthy body. So it's important to see your dentist every six months (or more often if your dentist recommends it). Comprehensive dental care is a benefit when you join Aetna Assure Premier Plus (HMO D-SNP). Just be sure to show your member ID card at every visit. 

Your dental care

We work with LIBERTY Dental Plan to provide you with dental and oral health care. You don’t need a referral to see a dentist or dental specialist in the network. You can change your dentist or dental group any time while you're enrolled with Aetna Assure Premier Plus (HMO D-SNP). You can find a dentist:

Contact LIBERTY Dental Plan at 1-855-225-1727. You can call Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM. Outside these hours, you can call us at 1-844-362-0934 (TTY: 711). We’re here for you 24 hours a day, 7 days week.

Do you have a dental emergency?

Do you have a dental emergency?

Just call your dentist. Dental offices are the most appropriate place to handle dental emergencies. This helps keep emergency rooms clear for medical emergencies. Only use the emergency room if your situation is severe, like these examples:

 

  • A fracture (bone break)
  • A dislocated jaw
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Severe dental pain or infection with severe facial swelling and difficulty breathing 

 

Finding a dentist in emergencies

 

Is your dentist office closed? Or maybe you don’t have one? Just call LIBERTY Dental Plan at 1-855-225-1727 to find a dentist. You can reach them Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM.

 

For emergencies, you can see a dentist who isn’t in our network. And if you’re out of town and need emergency dental care, you can go to any dentist. You don’t need a referral or approval for emergencies.

 

Did you receive emergency dental care in the hospital emergency department or medical office? Just let us know: 1-844-362-0934 (TTY: 711). You can also choose the option for the Nurse Line if you aren’t sure what to do.

Types of dental emergencies

 

Some examples are:

 

  • A broken natural tooth
  • A lost filling or crown
  • A permanent tooth is knocked out
  • Very bad pain in the gum around a tooth
  • Mouth or face swelling or infection

Dental care provided in a surgical setting with sedation

Sometimes dental care can require a hospital setting or surgical center. This may happen for:

 

  • Members with special health care needs 
  • Children under the age of 5

If your dentist can’t provide this service, just call LIBERTY Dental Plan. You can reach them at 1-855-225-1727. They can help you find a dentist and arrange your care.
