OTC Medications
OTC Medications
Kentucky Medicaid covers certain over the counter (OTC) drugs that are products that are available to all consumers for purchase without a prescription.
In order for an OTC drug to be covered under your benefit at no cost to you or your family, a prescription for the OTC product is required to be written by your physician and presented at the pharmacy.
Click here for a list of all Over-the-Counter Products that are covered beginning 7/1/2021.
Please have your physician review this list to determine if the OTC product you need is covered. Also, please remember to consult your prescriber or pharmacist before taking these drugs.
If you have any questions, please contact MedImpact at 1-800-210-7628 (TTY: 711) or visit their website.

Get medications and refills
Get medications and refills
If you need medication, your provider will write you a prescription for one on the Statewide PDL. You’ll want to:
- Ask your provider to make sure the medication is on the Statewide PDL
- Take your prescription to a Medicaid-enrolled pharmacy
- Show your plan member ID card at the pharmacy
Need refills? Your medication label notes how many refills you have. A few days before you run out of medication, call your pharmacy to place a refill order. If the pharmacy doesn’t have any refills left and you need more medication, check with your provider. They may want to see you before prescribing refills.
